The actress starred in “Star Wars,” “The Blues Brothers” and many more classic films.
The universe has a sick sense of timing. Just weeks after the release of “Star Wars: Rogue One,” Carrie Fisher has passed away from complications of a heart attack. Fisher was best known for playing Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, and had made numerous headlines this year after Disney’s reboot of the sci-fi saga and the publishing of her memoir “The Princess Diarist.” She was only 60 years old.
The iconic actress was en route from London to Los Angeles on December 23 when she suffered a heart attack. She was rushed to a hospital but passed away a few days later. Her daughter Billie Lourd confirmed the passing via a statement: “It is with very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
