Oritsefemi was born Oritsefemi Majemite Ekele on January 5, 1985 in Ajegunle, Lagos. He is a native of the Itshekiri town in Warri North LGA, Delta State, Nigeria. He started singing at the age of 9 during his primary school days later going professional at his local church, the Cherubim & Seraphim where he was a lead vocalist and instrumentalist.
Launching officially, he formed a synergy with his former partner, Chibudo and called themselves Jungulist. Oritsefemi’
s desire to run solo led to their split in 2006. He entered into fame with the commercial success of his hit single “Mercies of the Lord“ off his second solo album, Wicked World released 2008 after which he went under on a musical hiatus till late 2013 when he burst forth again with a modern remake to the legendary Fela’s conscious single “Double Wahala“.
Titled similarly, Oritsefemi’s Double Wahala was a chart topper and re-launched him to a new peak in the reigns of his music career. Since then, he has maintained a healthy artiste prominence having collaborated on songs with the likes of D’Banj, Reminisce and Davido while featuring on banging music material with Skales, Iyanya, Black Magic, Vector, Yung6ix, VJ Adams and Chidinma just to mention a few. He’s equally armed with a discography that covers over 5 albums, the most recent being “Money Stops Nonsense” which also shares title with his self-owned record label. Oritsefemi’s style of music can be defined as what he calls ‘Reality Music’ – the kind that touches or arouses the feeling of the people.
All of the afore-mentioned details and more to be hoped for in earnest, presents us with reasons enough to decorate him as tooXclusive’s Artiste of the Month for September 2015.
