Squash: Titans Clash for Randolph at OTrafford
Ikoyi,
The posh squash court of the popular OTrafford Squash Club, Ikoyi, is
where the action is this evening as players from different clubs lock
horns to vie for honours in an invitational tournament.
The competition, which holds today, is to honour Ian Randolph, an avid squash player and an enthusiast who turned 60 a couple of days ago. Randolph is a member of the OTrafford Squash Club and one of its good players.
According to Cyril Ayemere, Secretary of OTrafford Club, the tournament will feature the best and skillful players from the squash sections of clubs including Polo Club, Lagos; Lagos Country Club; Ikoyi Club 1938 and the host, OTrafford Squash Club.
Ayemere explained that the tournament is open only to registered members of the invited clubs who are expected to field 2 players each. He said the competition would also feature an exhibition match between 2 U-16 players from Lagos State.
“The opening ceremony is scheduled for 5pm while the games serve off at 6pm. The matches would be enthralling and exciting, no doubt about that, owing to the caliber of players that would be on parade. Squash enthusiasts are sure going to enjoy the best of squash,” Ayemere said.
He hinted that winners would be awarded attractive prizes.
OTrafford Squash Club is a melting pot of high-flying professionals where members engage in rigorous matches at weekends. Its members have won laurels during invitational tournaments across Nigeria.
