The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship  candidate in Taraba State, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, to emulate President Goodluck Jonathan by conceding defeat in the gubernatorial election in the state.
Mu’azu, who stated this yesterday in Jalingo while addressing PDP stakeholders and supporters ahead of Saturday’s re-run election in some parts of the state, accused the APC of scheming to win everything in the country which he said was not good for democracy.
According to the PDP chairman, “APC should stop propagating, and face the realities on ground. APC has been scheming to win everything across the country which is not good for our democracy.
“I urge APC and its candidate in Taraba State to emulate President Jonathan by conceding defeat after the gubernatorial election in the state. The president has done something uncommonly and God would reward him uncommonly.”
Mu’azu, who revealed that he was in the state to encourage PDP members in the state ahead of the election, disclosed that God has given the PDP governorship candidate, Darius Ishaku, victory in the election, urging PDP members in the state to come out in large numbers to conclude the governorship election.
He further disclosed that PDP would be revitalised and repositioned to win the 2019 general election and thereby return to power at the federal level just as he commended the Taraba people for their commitment to the party.
Muazu, however, took a swipe at some members of the party who defected to APC after the presidential election, saying they were not genuine members of the party, as he added that it was instructive to know that APC has shut its doors against them.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed its readiness to conduct the Saturday’s rerun election in the state.
Addressing a press conference at the commission’s office in Jalingo, the state capital, yesterday, the states Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Ahmad Makama, stated that all non sensitive and sensitive materials have been distributed to the areas where elections would take place.
He further disclosed that two National Commissioners and three RECs would be on ground to conduct the election adding that the Election Officers of Donga and Zing Local Government Areas would swap positions as part of measures to enhance the credibility of the exercise.
